Sizzling Gen-Y Startups: Origami Audio?
bradley will
Do you remember that one kid in grade school who folded paper and magically it turned into a swan, a boat, or in my case a Chinese star? I never would have thought those juvenile talents could have turned into something big until I met 20 something entrepreneur Jason Lucash from a fascinating new start-up, OrigAudio (pronounced o•rig•audio). So, what is OrigAudio you ask? The website describes it as an “eco-friendly, foldable, self powered speaker. Use them for travel, the beach, your office, camping, dorm life and everywhere else!” Jason simply put it to me like this:
“Have you ever eaten Chinese food? Well, imagine a speaker built in to one of those white take out containers.”
My curiosity was peaked and I was most interested in learning how the heck he came up with this concept. Jason said he just happened to be in collaboration with a speaker manufacturer and was looking for a cheap, eco-friendly speaker to take on the go and with-in a few weeks, they shipped him a prototype. The rest is history.
