Entrepreneurship is a hard game to play by yourself. Actually, there is no game by yourself. Crack out your Monopoly board game, pick your favorite shiny piece and roll the dice. See how much fun you will have playing by yourself.
Business is a game just like Monopoly. You have to learn how to play from somewhere. You usually learn from sitting on the sidelines a few rounds or having someone actually teach you play by play how the game works.
There are certain rules to the game. If you just tried to jump in and play, you are bound to make mistakes. These mistakes can be costly. Maybe passing up on property because you think you can’t afford it.
When you have been in business for a while, there comes to a point in business where many of these mistakes are not fun anymore. Especially when they could have been avoided with some simple advice.

We hear all too much about what you have to do to become successful. I have discovered one proven way to become successful…Fail often.
Here is an idea for a game show. It’s called “Who Wants to Be a Entrepreneur?“. We get to take a snapshot of the contestant’s lives and who ever makes the most sacrifices, wins! Woo-whoo! And what do you win? A life of more sacrifice, commitment, discipline and hard work with the slight possibility of making it big.

Inspiration can be found anywhere and everywhere. Even on the big screen. Being a motion picture fanatic, I like to watch movies not only for entertainment value, but I really enjoy ones that have a powerful message behind it. At the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur, very few books were read. A handful of these movies inspired me to keep expanding my mind. Depending on our backgrounds, different movies will resonate with different people.
Four days after our wedding in March of 2006, my new husband and I awoke to the sound of a hotel alarm clock blaring its taunting reminder to wake up. It was 6am in Maui on a Wednesday, the second day of our much-anticipated romantic honeymoon. There were beaches to be laid on, champagne to be enjoyed, and hikes to be taken – just the two of us. But this alarm ringing in our ears wasn’t for any of those activities. It was for a conference call with a client – one that couldn’t be rescheduled.
There is so much competition, right? So why the heck would someone want to business with YOU? The harsh reality is that no one cares what you have to offer. People care that you care. So again, why should someone do business with you?
I have heard the term “self-made millionaire” thrown around ever since I was a little kid. I always thought it sounded so cool. The dream of being able to say, “I accomplished all this success in my life all by myself when everyone doubted me,” felt quite powerful. Many people on Twitter give themselves this title, which is what sparked this post.
